Due to the material quality and heat transfer to the gearbox, hopper, and resin, the temperature of the feeding port changes slowly, so it takes a while. In order to avoid the same situation from happening again, most operators will adjust the flow of the tray coolant through the filling port to the maximum.
However, the fact is that not only the feeding port determines the feeding speed, but the temperature is too low, the feeding port can absorb up to 20% of the total energy consumption due to the continuous absorption of heat from the first zone. Generally, a higher temperature will be more suitable for the production of pallets. The author also found that the output of the extruder of this design is generally more stable. During the test, it was found that the output of the same screw increased by as much as 23%. Since the heat conduction through the barrel is much higher than the conduction from the barrel to the jacket and then to the coolant, the temperature of the inner wall of the barrel is kept at a very high level. It can be seen from Figure 1 that there is a metal-to-metal connection part at the feeding port, which is very conducive to heat transfer. But it also shows that a higher temperature feed port has a better effect on output. This can be further illustrated by the performance of a tray extruder that uses an integral feeding port, that is, the barrel is extended by a jacket at the feeding end.
This gradient further acts on the feed rate through barrel cooling, a position that is critical to the formation of solid feed, solid bed compression, and heat to initiate melting. They did not regard the feeding port as a part of the processing, but as a device independent of the process. The design structure is shown in Figure 2.
